Local MP visits factory
Local MP Andrew Tyrie is shown some of the extrusion products manufactured by D W Plastics
Local MP Andrew Tyrie re-visited D W Plastics last week to see the new factory unit and to get further insight into plastic extrusion manufacturing. Will Davis, DWP’s MD, showed the visitor around and explained some of the processes involved in the production of plastic extrusion profiles.
Andrew Tyrie said ‘I’ve seen a fast growing business today, which is great news for the area, creating jobs right in the heart of Chichester. A lot of manufacturing is recovering and thriving in the constituency and this is an example. It’s vital that businesses gets the infrastructure support they need, not just improvements to the A27, but, among other things, better drainage, too.’
The main topics that were discussed included flooding in the area due to the lack of drain, soak-away and ditch maintenance, the impact to businesses of the congested A27, the threat of reduced power supply and the cost of energy to high-usage companies (climate levy). In addition Will Davis complained of the protracted planning bureaucracy required for simple improvements to the new factory unit.
The company appreciates the support of the local MP in promoting its concerns to the appropriate authorities.
